General Information

The National Trail Conference is an annual gathering of trail enthusiasts, professionals, and advocates from across the country. It provides a platform for sharing knowledge, discussing best practices, and fostering collaboration to enhance trail systems nationwide. This year is Irelands first National Trail Conference.

The next National Trail Conference will be held on 31st Aug-3rd Sept at the Landmarkhotel Carrick on Shannon and offers excursions around Leitrim and surrounding counties. Stay tuned for more details on registration and agenda.

The 2025 National Trail Conference has not been confirmed. Stay tuned for more details and get in touch if you wish to host.

The conference is open to anyone passionate about trails, including trail managers, planners, designers, advocates, government officials, non-profit organisations, and outdoor enthusiasts.

The conference is being organised by the Rural Recreation Officer of Leitrim Development Company and is being supported by a working committee of Rural Recreation Officers around the county and the ILDN.

Registration details will be available on our website closer to the event date. You’ll be able to register online through our registration portal.

The registration fee includes access to all sessions, workshops, networking events, exhibit areas, and conference materials, tea/coffee and a hot lunch. Accommodation and evening entertainment is additional.

We recommend registering early to secure your spot. Details on registration deadlines will be provided with the conference announcement.

There will be more details about evening entertainment coming soon. Ticket holders will receive this information via email closer to the date. 

PROGRAM & sESSIONS

The conference program will feature keynote presentations, panel discussions, workshops, field trips, and networking opportunities covering topics such as trail planning, design, maintenance, funding, advocacy, and more.

We welcome proposals for presentations, workshops, and panels. Details on submitting proposals will be announced when the call for presentations opens.

PRE-EVENT EXCURSIONS

Cancellations can be made up to 7 days prior to the event and full refunds will be issued.

Every activity will provide you information on what to bring. If you are unsure, please contact the activity provider directly.

Information on recommended hotels and accommodations near the conference venue will be provided on our website.

Attendees are responsible for their own transportation. Details on local transportation options will be available closer to the event.

Some meals may be included, depending on the registration package. Details will be provided in the conference schedule.
